Attention activerain rainmaker users be very careful to read the entire terms of use agreement before signing up for this social media site. This site is designed for professionals to interact amongst each other, by allowing people to share their knowledge and personal experiences through the use of blogs. They lure you in with ads like first 30 days is only $1 or first 30 days is free. You must sign up with a credit card to start your account. Then they offer you a monthly plan or a yearly subscription and of course the yearly is at a discounted rate which lures you into buying the yearly subscription. The whole time you are using their site they say you can cancel anytime. Here is what they fail to make clear to you is that if you cancel your yearly subscription you don’t get refunded for any of the unused months. Which in my case I opened an account up on Sep 22 2010 for the $1 fee then paid for the year up front. I decided that I really don’t have time to sit around and blog all the time. So I cancelled the account on Nov 22 2010. They are very quick to cancel your account like the next day. Then I asked for a refund they send an email saying that I need to call this guy Steven Graham with the cancellation department. After several, several tries trying to contact him which by the way never answers the phone you always have to leave a message. He calls and says there are no refunds on the active rain and that I should have read the terms of agreement. I like most other people never read those pages and pages of information. So then with no refund possible, I ask can I at least reactivate my account so that I can use the months I paid for. No he replies, I would have to resign back up for the rainmaker account with my credit card. Then at the end of the first 30 days he could possibly give me three free months. This is nowhere near what I paid for. So I am out over $300 and it is Christmas time. A lesson well learned that did not come cheap. Anybody can feel free to repost this so that this will not happen to any new business professionals who are getting into their business field and are looking for a site to blog on.
